IR35

IR35 and employment status, explained clearly

If you contract through an agency or your own limited company, your employment status changes how you are taxed. We help you understand where you stand.

And make sure your structure fits how you actually work.

What's included

  • Reviewing contracts and working practices
  • Understanding status determination statements from clients
  • Inside and outside IR35 tax comparisons
  • Choosing between umbrella, limited company or sole trader
  • Running your limited company efficiently if you are outside IR35
  • Help with HMRC enquiries about status

Who decides your status

For medium and large clients, the client decides your status and must give you a status determination statement. For small clients, your own company is responsible for deciding. Either way, it is worth understanding the reasoning.

Common questions

Am I inside or outside IR35?

It depends on control, substitution, mutuality of obligation and how you really work, not just the contract wording. We review both.

My client says I am inside IR35. Can I challenge it?

You can ask the client to reconsider through their disagreement process. We help you put your case clearly.

Is a limited company still worth it if I am inside IR35?

Often not. We compare the take-home pay of each option so you can decide.

Do you work with agency workers?

Yes. Many clients work through agencies, and we explain what the agency deducts and why.
